AIA International members have launched INNOVATION Architecture in Coral Gables, Florida, led by principals Gustavo Ribeiro, Steven Miller, and Ed Mayer II, who collectively bring over 40 years of global architectural and planning experience.
The firm is already engaged in major projects in the U.S. Virgin Islands and Miami, specializing in steel volumetric modular systems and urban planning.

A multifaceted event organized by AIA International this July celebrated Japan’s leading role in architectural and urban renewal, and international collaboration. The five days in central Tokyo and Osaka treated attendees and delegates from AIA and ASSC (Architectural Society of Shanghai China) to talks by esteemed guest speakers and a landmark signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two associations. In addition, a variety of guided walking tours showcased Tokyo and Osaka.
Shifting licensure reciprocity agreements in Europe
US licensed architects, benefitting from NCARB’s Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRAs) with other national licensing bodies, have long been able to pursue reciprocal licensure in Canada, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand, and vice versa. The United Kingdom has been added to the list after a similar agreement with the ARB was finalized, enabling US or UK licensed architects to explore professional practice opportunities across the Atlantic.

A'23 - International members receive Emeritus and Fellowship status
AIA’23, the AIA’s annual meeting, has come to a close. With it are changes for professionals engaged in the AIA. A bylaws amendment was proposed to provide International Associate members with the same privileges as AIA and Associate AIA members. This proposal unanimously passed. Under the new bylaw, eligible International Associate members may apply for AIA Emeritus membership.
