On Sunday September 12th, we gathered for a Liangma River Rejuvenation Urban City Tour.
The Liangma played an important role in Beijing's history. As a part of the Grand Canal, it was used to carry resources and construction materials to Beijing, making a significant contribution to the development of the city.

An alliance was made with Expo CIHAC, the largest Construction Expo in Latin America, to organize a cycle of architecture lectures at their event on October 12th - 15th 2021.
INTRODUCTION
The American Institute of Architects International Region Nigeria has been engaged in several activities in the last quarter of the year. Some of these activities have been local (within the country), while others have been international albeit online.
2020 has been a challenging year. In South Africa, the Covid-19 lockdown began on March 26th. Like all other business, Architectural practices needed to think quickly how to maintain and sustain their business. With construction sites coming to a halt, architects in South Africa turned to their drawing boards, designing, planning . . .
Australia is still experiencing internal state border closures as well as internationally.
The effect on the building economy has been widespread with social distancing requirements slowing productivity in construction. The Architectural profession has adapted well to the new normal of working . . .
The present year 2020 has been and continues to be an exceptional year, with surprising challenges in our daily life and profession.

- Updated all AIA IR members in Colombia contact sheet.
- Created a Colombia AIA IR WhatsApp cha
The work that is being done is in coordination with the Board of Directors of the “Colegio of Architects of Costa Rica”
We have a National Program that is in the early stages called “Green San Jose”. (the Capital City).
Argentina was recently added to be a represented country on the Latin American Region.
As one of the first Goals discussed with experienced AIA members and representatives in other countries, the actions taken where in the direction of building a solid network to use a platform for expanding and building synergy with the AIA in future events

- On August 8, 2020, a collaboration to organize virtual webinars was agreed with CIDI, the Ibero-American Council of Designers and Interior Designers.
- Since August 13, 2020, emails are being sent every 15 days to Mexican architects, inviting them to join the AIA.

My focus these first months as Country Representative has been to invite well established architects of my country to join AIA, so I can really start a community of talented, engaged, and distinguished architects.

Lanre Olusola FNIA, Int’l Assoc. AIA and David Majekodunmi MNIA, Int’l Assoc. AIA were appointed Country Representative I & II respectively.
Hello from AIA IR - Shenzhen
We hope this newsletter finds you well and healthy.
Starting in July 2020, Yimei Chan, Design Partner of LOD has been appointed as the first Regional Representative of Shenzhen China on behalf of the AIA International Region (AIA IR). Her term of appointment will extend until December 31, 2021.
In July and August 2020, in conjunction with the ‘City as Verb’ international exhibit coordinated by the City of Seoul, a corresponding lecture series brought together world-renowned speakers in a hybrid online/offline format. Curated by Korea AIA IR Country Representative John Hong, the discussion focused on reinterpreting our cities through active verbs rather than fixed nouns in the shift toward engaging citizens in urban design processes and governance.
