AIA International and AIA Hong Kong proudly present our International Conference 2024, hosted in Hong Kong on October 24-26, 2024 (with optional extension activities October 23 and October 27).

We are seeking nominations for the position of AIA International First Vice President, to serve on the board for a term from January 2025 through December 2025 (as First Vice President); from January 2026 through December 2027 (as President); from January 2028 through December 2028 (as Immediate Past President).
We held our AIA International Conference from September 29th to October 3rd, hosted in London by AIA UK and in collaboration with AIA Continental Europe. Each day centred on explorations of different areas of London.

A multifaceted event organized by AIA International this July celebrated Japan’s leading role in architectural and urban renewal, and international collaboration. The five days in central Tokyo and Osaka treated attendees and delegates from AIA and ASSC (Architectural Society of Shanghai China) to talks by esteemed guest speakers and a landmark signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two associations. In addition, a variety of guided walking tours showcased Tokyo and Osaka.
US licensed architects, benefitting from NCARB’s Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRAs) with other national licensing bodies, have long been able to pursue reciprocal licensure in Canada, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand, and vice versa. The United Kingdom has been added to the list after a similar agreement with the ARB was finalized, enabling US or UK licensed architects to explore professional practice opportunities across the Atlantic.
I have been coming to the Venice Architecture Biennale for a decade and a half and never have I ever seen this many women architects and architects of color represented. Ghanaian Scottish architect and educator, Lesley Lokko, the first Biennale curator of African origin, has put action behind her words.
AIA’23, the AIA’s annual meeting, has come to a close. With it are changes for professionals engaged in the AIA. A bylaws amendment was proposed to provide International Associate members with the same privileges as AIA and Associate AIA members. This proposal unanimously passed. Under the new bylaw, eligible International Associate members may apply for AIA Emeritus membership.
With the 2022 football World Cup the global media put the spotlight on Qatar. Much has been said already about the years leading up to the World Cup when architects were busy creating the necessary venues and infrastructure. But how is the legacy of the World Cup shaping up for Qatar now that the football circus has left the country?
Benefits touted by Germany's €9 ticket: lowering commuting costs, encouraging public transit, and reducing road congestion, along with the clear environmental advantages of the electric rail. These incentives may see ramifications to urban planning further down the road. Could consistent subsidies in public transit change the development and urban planning over time?
