AIA Canada Society Update - April 2025
Hot off the press! The April 2025 issue of Canadian Architect Magazine is now published. Inside the AIA Canada Journal, we proudly feature the 10 winners of the 2024 AIA Canada Design Awards, celebrating outstanding achievements in design across a diverse range of typologies, scales, and complexities. This year’s Award of Excellence goes to the tǝmǝsew’txw Aquatic and Community Centre by hcma architecture + design in British Columbia. We extend our gratitude to our esteemed jurors—Dr. Christine Bruckner, Carlo Parente, and Warren Schmidt—for their expertise in selecting this year’s winning projects.
At the AIA International Spring Conference 2025, AIA Canada hosted an engaging session with Brent Mauti, Principal and CTO of Turner Fleischer, who explored the intersection of architecture and technology and how innovation is shaping smarter, more efficient design practices.
Looking ahead, AIA Canada is planning an exciting lineup of virtual and in-person events for summer and fall. On April 9, 2025, Nubras Samayeen, PhD, will present her research on Louis Kahn’s work in South Asia. On June 1, 2025, we’ll host a social gathering at the RAIC Conference in Montreal, and we also look forward to connecting with members at the AIA National Conference in Boston in June.
