Description:
This course contributes by offering an informative seminar examining the difficulties seniors face with everyday tasks and how designing interiors to meet those needs creates a safe and comfortable environment.
Learning Objectives:
1.Learn about the physical changes to hearing, vision and mobility as people age and how those affect the selection of interior finishes.
2.Discuss the 2018 Facilities Guidelines Institute's guidelines for construction / renovations of aging care facilities, and how those affect design decisions.
3.Review key design principles including the meaning of colors and using contrast to create ideal environments.
4.Discuss safety in design and learn how to transition from one area to another.
