AIA Hong Kong Update - December 2021

The last quarter saw AIA Hong Kong members gathering in numbers to celebrate design excellence in the city/region, beginning with:

AGM and Guided tour of the Rosewood, a landmark tower on the Victoria Harbour by KPF. The tour opened with a presentation by Florence Chan, director of KPF Hong Kong, followed by a recorded presentation by Alison Chi, Managing Director of TonyChi studio, who shared with members the studio's extensive use of American Hardwood throughout the interior. The event brought together audiences from AIA Hong Kong and AIA Shanghai and was generously supported by AHEC and ATO.

This was followed by an exclusive pre-opening tour of the M+ museum, a 700,000sf museum complex designed by Herzog & de Meuron in partnership with TFP Farrels and Arup. The tour was followed up by a discussion on Architecture Arts and Curation with Curatorial and Chief Curator Doryun Chong, Co-Founder and executive director of Design Trust Marisa Yiu, and Founder and managing director of CL3 William Lim, moderated by Chapter president Winston Yeo.

We were also very excited to return to the Rotunda at Exchange Square for a physical exhibition of this year's Honors and Awards program. Over 150 gathered that night to salute the winning teams, community citations, and honorary members.

Shortly after, we joined Su Chang Design on a guided tour of INSTANT GARDEN, a project in collaboration with Christies to bring new and unique experiences to auction house pre-sale events. Congratulations to Su Chang on founding his studio!

The year concluded with a wonderful year-end gathering hosted by JEB, where we learned about JEB's inspiring new initiative, Sustainable Office Solutions (SOS). Instead of selling new furniture, SOS is a consultancy service that helps companies redistribute and reuse existing furniture.

2022 marks the 25th Anniversary of AIA Hong Kong. As the region's longest serving Chapter, we look forward to connecting and celebrating with all our members at upcoming events!
